Hello friends, it’s Chippin’ Chewsday, innit? Do you struggle blading your 60 degree? Or hitting the same chip twice because you stub it so bad? Next time you’re next to the green, don’t have anything like a bunker or a hill in your way to get up to the green, hit the old bump and run. Take an 8 or 9 iron and a putting grip, step into the ball with your feet together, ball at the back of your stance. One of the most important things we do to make the shot a ton easier, we give it a little TLC and we creep. Just keep it on the down low, a little closer to the ball, make sure the toe of our club is down so it doesn’t want to grab the turf, and the face ever so slightly open. Counteract that by aiming a little left, and with our weight staying forward, take a little putting stroke and pop it up onto the green. It’s going to roll out like a putt, so make sure you read it like one. That toe being down is the most important part, that adds a ton of forgiveness to these shots. For longer shots, use a club with lower loft, less green to work with, use a higher lofted club. Always the same stroke, and this is how you really start shaving strokes off the card.
