Hello friends welcome back to another Chipping Chewsday, innit?! (you know da rules) Today, we’re really going to be lowering those scores with our short game tip, and that’s to keep the ball as close to the ground as you can at all times. So if I’m not hitting my wedges well and I have a 30 yard shot with nothing but fairway between me and the green, I’m not afraid to take my hybrid and just hit a putt with that. I’m going to set up the same as my bump and run, choking way down, standing very close, very tall with the toe down making more contact with the ground and the ball. The extra ball speed that you get from your hybrid over your putter and the extra loft in that head will turn that fairway into just an extension of the green, and I’ll just take the same stroke as a putt from the same distance. Breaking 80 is about eliminating triples, not adding birdies. I am not telling you to putt hybrids from the fairway when you’re just playing for fun, ripping hoons and noons the crew. But if you’re really trying to post a score, keeping the ball on the ground as much as possible will help in shaving those strokes. Be sure to leave a like and subscribe for the next tip next Chewsday, we’ll see you on the course!
