Hello friends, it’s Chippin’ Chewsday, innit? You ever struggled hitting shorter chips and pitches, can’t take enough distance off with a short swing, so you send it over the green and make consistent contact with the ground…six inches behind the ball? Then this is the video for you. See, distance comes from two levers in your golf swing, your wrists and your shoulders. When you take a short swing with both of those levers, it becomes much harder to shorten the swing enough to hit a super short two to ten yard little chip, so don’t use them both. You can take a ton more distance off by taking out a lever than you can by taking a shorter swing. Next time you’re in need of a super short chip, the biggest thing you can do to take distance off is take your wrists out of the swing completely. One thing I do to help with that, if the shot calls for little distance, is use my putting grip more in the palms, make it harder to use the wrists. Then I’m not going to need to shorten my swing nearly as much. The shot’s going to be much easier to time because I’m taking out that second lever, creating a ton less ball speed. With your 60 degree or higher lofted wedge shot, the ball should come out super high, short, a very little spin like that. Be sure to like and subscribe for the next tip next Chewsday. We’ll see you on the course!
