Hello friends, it’s Chippin’ Chewsday, innit?! (you know the rules) Could you use help with distance control on your short pitches and shots around the green? Well, a great way to dial in your swing lengths for your shorter shots is to take the club away completely. That’s right no wedge, take a ball in your hand, and see how far you can throw that with the golf swing motion. If you’re really struggling, take a few balls, throw them all in a row, trying to hit that same spot. Now take your wedge and another ball, and take that same swing, or rather that throw I suppose, your wedge into the golf ball, and just try to throw that club with the same motion of the ball.
Two very important things to take away from this drill. You can control your distance a ton to throw in that ball if you use or don’t use your wrist, right? And with your wrist, if you use it properly, you don’t need to take much of a swing with your arms to throw that ball a long way. You can take these onto the course as well. You want more distance, your wrist can help with that. But just as importantly, if you need to take distance off, your wrist staying quiet can help a lot with that as well. Be sure to like and subscribe for the next tip next Tuesday. We’ll see you on the course!
