Hello friends, it’s Chippin’ Chewsday, innit?! How can you make your chip shots even easier and more consistent? Well, there are two big things I see amateurs struggling with on this motion. And we have two things you can do with your short chip shots and bump and runs to make them much easier and a ton more consistent. The first issue is the wrists, using them like we do in the full swing rather than the putting motion that we want to replicate. One way to make this easier to replicate your putting stroke is to use your putting grip. Instead of the fingers, I’ll move my bump and run grip to the same as my putter, more in my palms. It should make my club stand much more vertical. That can bring in another thing that can help with consistency, setting up with that toe down. That helps remedy another big issue, hitting too much of the sweet spot. You really want this shot to come off very soft and with very little spin. Catching too much of the sweet spot, having the ball shoot across the green is an issue that can be easily remedied here by setting up with the toe down. Not only that, it helps expose the bounce a little bit more, leading to much more consistent contact and a lot less hindrance from the grass and turf in case they get between you and the ball. Be sure to like and subscribe for the next tip next Chewsday, and we’ll see you on the course.

I’m Coach Matt

Welcome to The Green Grass Golf Shop, your one-stop shop for all the most comprehensive golf instruction, swing drills, swing training aids and maybe a little golf content. My goal here is to let everyone in on the secret that most internet and Instagram golf pros don’t tell you, that the video you’re watching is not for everyone, and that nobody should be taking instruction from anyone who can’t see your swing and tell you what you need for your unique swing motion and body mechanics. This is why the most important part of what we offer here is 1-on-1 private video swing instruction, to help you make sure you’re practicing what you need to practice, only watching the videos and getting the help your unique body needs to play your best golf. Check us out with a free video swing analysis to see if virtual lessons are right for you!
