Hello friends, it’s Chippin’ Chewsday, innit?! Do you struggle flipping your wedges, skulling everything across the green trying to lift it in the air? Then stay put, we have what you need right here. One very important thing that a lot of players struggle with to grasp is that you need to hit down to get the ball up. You need to hit the ball first. If you don’t, your margin for error between a perfect shot and one that leads to another chip is non-existent. Those are your only two options, and that’s really bad in golf. The best shots and decisions are ones that, even if you execute them poorly, they still end up in a good enough spot for us to play our next shot. If you struggle making clean contact with your chips, the rebound drill is a great one to use. The setup and idea are very simple, just like you would a normal chip. Weight forward, ball back, all that good stuff. And the drill is just this. We’re going to try to hit a chip and rebound that club back to where it came from. If you do anything but accelerate and bring your hands down first, this drill is going to be incredibly difficult. You need to teach yourself how to chip without flipping. Any incorrect movements makes this drill very difficult. Be sure to like and subscribe for the next tip next Chewsday. We’ll see you on the course!
