Hello friends, it’s Chippin’ Chewsday, innit? How do you create spin with such little swing speed? That’s a question I get a lot about creating spin around the green. The answer simply has to do with the angle you deliver your club to the golf ball and the loft that you’re using to make that shot. The more loft that you can take and create, the more vertical you can get that club head down to the golf ball, the more spin you can make with your shot. We can make all those things incredibly easy to achieve by doing just three simple things in our setup. We want the ball back in our stance, our weight forward, and that club face open. Doing these three things in our setup, not only make sure that we’re using as much loft as we can use, but the ball and our body are in a position to encourage us and our club to hit the ball first with a nice descending blow. You don’t need to come down 90 degrees on the golf ball or anywhere near that. Just need to make sure we’re doing everything that we can in our setup to encourage the spin we want with our shot. And that’s face open, weight forward, ball back if you want to create more spin around the green. Be sure to like and subscribe for the next tip next Chewsday. We’ll see you on the course!

I’m Coach Matt

Welcome to The Green Grass Golf Shop, your one-stop shop for all the most comprehensive golf instruction, swing drills, swing training aids and maybe a little golf content. My goal here is to let everyone in on the secret that most internet and Instagram golf pros don’t tell you, that the video you’re watching is not for everyone, and that nobody should be taking instruction from anyone who can’t see your swing and tell you what you need for your unique swing motion and body mechanics. This is why the most important part of what we offer here is 1-on-1 private video swing instruction, to help you make sure you’re practicing what you need to practice, only watching the videos and getting the help your unique body needs to play your best golf. Check us out with a free video swing analysis to see if virtual lessons are right for you!
